Sales Is A Numbers Game

Sales is a numbers game. I don't mean the more sales you make, the more money you make....that's obvious. I'm talking about how many calls or knocks you need to make to get a sale. If you don't know the numbers, how can you be successful?
Here's what you need to know, and keep updating as you get better or worse (of course there can be other factors like price, saturation, margins that can effect these as well): How many calls or knocks does it take to get one prospect? How many prospects do you need to get one sale? For example; if you make 100 cold calls, get 10 prospets and 1 sale, your calls to sales ratio is 100 to 1. And if you have 50 prospets in your pipeline, you can expect to close 5 of those deals.
Want to sell 2 more deals a month to hit your sales or personal goals? Using the above math, you will need to make 200 more cold calls a month or approximately 10 more calls a day (using sales days in a month). Doesn't sound so bad when you break it down like that does it?
