What Motivates You?

In individual sales and as a sales manager you have to find out what truly motivates you and or your team. It's different for everyone; family, new car, financial freedom, going to school, take a trip, etc.

Once you find out what motivates you or your team you need to determine how you can help them get to that destination, one step at a time.

I wrote previously about knowing your numbers to hit your goals. This is exactly the same. How many more calls or doors do you have to knock to make it happen? Break it out and keep your eye on the prize.

Print out and laminate a picture, put it as a screen saver on your computer or phone, etc of what you are striving for. These can change regularly as well. Be sure to keep updating your picture/screen saver, etc along with the numbers it will take to get you there.

Talk about your goals with others and ask what they are striving to obtain. Not only will it get you more excited, it will also keep you more accountable if people know and then ask how close you are.

Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and need to be reminded what it really is we are working those extra hours for. Set it, post it somewhere, talk about it and get it.
